Q&A

  1. How did you start with photo/video?
I honestly didn't believe I had any talent when it came to photography, but in 2012 I began capturing images with my cell phone, something I found both rewarding and challenging. As a result of my newfound interest I received my first camera as a birthday present in January 2013. At first I only captured jpgs. I had no idea that there existed something called raw files until a friend of our daughter suggested I should start shooting in raw. The next step was thus shooting bracketed exposures which I edited using HDR software. It was at the end of September that same year that I set up an account at 500px.com. I so vividly remember how impressed I was by the images I saw on that platform. It became clear to me that if I ever should be able to create images like the ones I saw I would have to practice a lot, and that I further had to learn how to edit my images in Photoshop.

  2. How would you describe your style?
    Surreal, artistic and colorful.

  3. What inspires you?
The amazing diverse scenery we have here in Norway, plus landscape photographers such as Dag Ole Nordhaug, Carl Loveall og Max Rive.

  4. What is your dream shoot or project?
I would love to visit the Pacific Northwest. My wife and I visited Iceland in 2014, and I hope to once return. Simply an amazing experience to visit that island.

  5. What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
Train your eyes through plenty of practice - both in the field and behind the computer. Study others' work, learn Photoshop or another flexible editing software, watch and read tutorials.

What is in your bag?

  1. What is the most important in your bag?
Sony a7r III, various Tamron og Samyang lenses and Nisi filters. In addition I also bring with me several microfiber cloths, spare battery and Lexar memory cards in the camera. Lexar has never let me down in spite of sometimes harsh Norwegian conditions.
  1. What bag do you use?
I use various Think Tank bags.
