Optical construction The optical construction of the new 17-70mm F/2.8 lens features 16 elements in 12 groups. Two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one hybrid aspherical lens element are precisely arranged to maintain high-resolution performance from edge to edge. The 2.8 aperture consist of 9 blades to provide a creamy bokeh. Thanks to the great optical construction the zoom can focus close down to 0.19m, which makes it great for macro photography as well.
The lens has a moisture-resistant construction and Fluorine coating which provide extra protection and makes the lens useful even in harsh weather conditions.
